Josh and Nick knew in their hearts they wanted to pursue adoption from foster care, but they were initially unsure of what child would be best for their family. Through HOAA’s education and support, they realized they were best suited to welcome an older child in their home.
Josh described their first encounter with 16-year-old Jaden, who would later become their son- “I vividly recall our first encounter over lunch that Tuesday afternoon – it was clear from those first moments that Jaden was meant to be our son”.
The courts recognized Jaden’s adoption in early 2023. Their lives have since been filled with a series of incredible milestones and cherished moments from Jaden learning to drive, graduating high school, and preparing for college. Our HOAA staff was invited to Jaden’s graduation ceremony (see below).
Jaden embraced the family’s culture of fun and adventure and his dads welcomed him with love, acceptance, and joy. Josh and Nick described the idea of life without Jaden as “unimaginable – he has filled our home with laughter, love, and a sense of completeness”.
Josh and Nick hope to adopt again one day, and HOAA will certainly be here to help them.
